JEFF JANSSEN, M.S.
Widely considered one of the world's top experts on Sports Leadership, Jeff Janssen is the founder and president of the Janssen Sports Leadership Center.Jeff's pioneering work on leadership development with athletes and coaches has led to the creation of cutting edge Leadership Academies at North Carolina, Stanford, Notre Dame, Illinois, Pitt, Yale, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Michigan, Baylor, WSSU, Colgate, and Lehigh. A prolific author, he has authored numerous books including The Team Captain's Leadership Manual, Championship Team Building, and The Seven Secrets of Successful Coaches. Jeff is passionate about his purpose of helping coaches and athletic administrators develop the world's next generation of leaders!
SHELLEY JOHNSON, M.A., M.S.C.
Shelley Johnson is the Assistant Director of the Carolina
Leadership Academy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her work with the Carolina Leadership Academy, Shelley is the primary facilitator for the Baylor Leadership Academy and the Rams Leadership Academy at Winston-Salem State University.Shelley has conducted numerous Leadership Summits across the country at schools such as the University of Miami, UNC-Charlotte, Davidson College, Thayer Academy, Cary Academy, and Howell High School. She has been both a coach and student-athlete at the Division I level, having coached at Michigan, Duke, and North Carolina. As a student-athlete, Shelley played field hockey at Michigan where she was an All-Big Ten performer and Big Ten Conference champion. Shelley has a Master's degree in Education from the University of
Michigan (1999) as well as a Master's degree in Sport Administration
from North Carolina (2006).
GREG SHELLEY, Ph.D.
With over 15 years of experience working with high-level coaches and student-athletes, Dr. Greg Shelley is one of the nation's top speakers and consultants in the areas of leadership development, team building, motivation, communication, conflict resolution, and peak performance. In addition to being a professor at Ithaca College in New York, Greg is the primary facilitator for Leadership Academies at Georgetown and Colgate. Greg also consults with numerous college athletic departments and professional organizations. He is the co-author of Moving Toward Your Potential: The Athlete's Guide to Peak Performance as well as author of several book chapters and articles in coaches' magazines. Greg earned his doctorate from the University of Utah in Sport Psychology (1997). He is passionate about developing student-athletes and coaches into highly effective leaders.
JULIE STERRETT, M.A.
Julie Sterrett is the Director of the Lehigh Athletics
Leadership Academy at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. She coordinates and conducts comprehensive leadership training and development for over 300 student-athletes.As a student-athlete, Julie was a standout player on the Lehigh softball team. She served as the President of the Student-Athlete Executive Council and won the Mary O. Hurley Leadership Award, Lehigh Athletics' highest leadership honor. Julie has a Master's degree in Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership from the University of Washington (2008). She is a certified Leadership Academy Leader through the Janssen Sports Leadership Center's Lead the Leaders certification program.
ERIN LINDSEY - BUSINESS MANAGER Erin Lindsey serves as the Business Manager for the Janssen Sports Leadership Center. She competently handles a variety of critical functions including directing our Captain's Camps, serving as a point person with our Leadership Academies, managing our Championship Coaches Network and Team Captains Network websites, responding to inquiries, and keeping all of our operations on track. Erin was a former ACC Conference Player of the Year in volleyball for North Carolina. She has coached at North Carolina and is earning her masters degree in sports administration. She is passionate about her role in developing the world's next generation of leaders.
